Having drawn more attention for veering off-script in interviews than for crafting twisted pop pastiche, Ariel Pink unloads a double-album's worth of material. And his provocative acts of hipster appropriation scan like a nightmare vision of toothpaste commercials and AM radio jingles. "Goth Bomb" and "Nude Beach A Go-Go" nearly live up to the promise of their titles, and Ariel's meeting with fellow West Coast huckster Kim Fowley is a genius match. A whirl of candy-colored perversion, this is strongly recommended to Frank Zappa fans who like their pop both arch and giggle-inducing.
