On their 13th album, Norway's venerable "progressive black Viking metal" band keep up to date with the kids, alternating nasty growling with lots of viscous shoegaze space, quite wooshy and even Porcupine Tree-like in tracks like "Building With Fire." In six songs averaging just under nine minutes, they also dabble in pagan chanting ("One Thousand Years of Rain"), then get downright psychedelic: "Nauthir Bleeding" has snake-charming chords, Voivod-twisty time signatures and dreamy vocals wafting about. Closer "Daylight" opens with more heathen vowel rituals, but eventually just peters out.
