Dean Fertita is a multi-instrumentalist who regularly works with an impressive list of rock 'n' roll heavies, among them Jack White, Brendan Benson and Josh Homme. Not bad, right? His solo debut under the Hello=Fire alias is a delicious collection of retro-glam, power pop and wildly catchy art rock. Just about every song, built from multiple layers and hooks that only grow stronger with repeated listens, is an exercise in studio craft and construction. Lending a hand with production and songwriting, Benson's influence is palpable, particularly on the Beatles-inspired "Someplace Spacious."
