The title references Narcissus, the hunter of Greek legend, but clearly the biggest mythological figure in Kimbra's life is Prince. Kimbra's world is weirder and busier than any Paisley Park joint, stuffing tracks until they burst while trying out nouveau New Jack Swing ("Madhouse") or getting nostalgic for "90s Music" (which sounds nothing like any '90s music, save maybe Timbaland at his most oddball). But sometimes the pleasures are simple -- give it up for MVP bass player Thundercat. And effervescent disco throwback "Miracle" just about lives up to its title.
