KT Tunstall's Acoustic Extravaganza
Post-Norah Jones, an album of acoustic, coffee shop folk-pop from a smoky-voiced chanteuse is nothing to write home about. Thus, on KT Tunstall's collection of B-sides, alternate versions, new material and covers (including a hazy, husky version of Beck's "Golden Age" that's lovely), the titular "Extravaganza" seems a bit hyperbolic, albeit probably intentionally. Still, the starker tracks represent a divergence from the slicker sound of her debut, and Tunstall carries them well, her simple vocals lending the album a sleepy, amiable grace.
