This young, absurdly skilled Brit folkie will remind you of a half-dozen all-time greats instantly: Joni Mitchell, definitely, but also tough-but-sensitive troubadours from Richard Thompson to John Martyn, with a few delicious Leonard Cohen detours (see the chilling "Night After Night") and a couple nods to the more modern, boisterous tack taken by her buddies in Mumford and Sons. Her third album is a perfect union of vulnerability and invincibility -- start with "The Beast," probably the most menacing ostensibly sensual song of the past decade. Do not cross this woman.
