Pleasure P

Acerca de Pleasure P

Marcus "Pleasure P" Cooper launched his career as one-fourth of South Florida quartet Pretty Ricky. The group, originally promoted as teenage "brothers," brought an intensely sexual vibe reminiscent of Jodeci to the teenybopper game. They often performed shirtless, humping and grinding onstage while singing hits like "Your Body" and "Grind with Me." Of course, the bed-shaking tunes turned Pretty Ricky into R&B stars and earned them two gold albums for 2005's Bluestars and 2007's Late Night Special (which landed at No. 1 on the charts). Money disputes ended the good times, though, and Pleasure P split for a solo career. The divorce turned acrimonious when Atlantic Records decided to keep Pleasure P and dump Pretty Ricky, leading the two sides to fight and level nasty accusations at each other in the press. Undeterred, Pleasure P completed a solo debut, The Introduction of Marcus Cooper. Although he promoted the modestly successful album as a more "mature" effort than Pretty Ricky's teen lothario anthems, Pleasure P knew better than to mess with a good formula, and stocked it with babymaking jams like "Boyfriend #2," "Under" and "Did You Wrong."
