Ryan Bingham loves growling about living the hard life. It can be a bit much at times, not unlike the Eagles dressing up as desperadoes. That said, the dude writes some pretty sweet tunes, and on Roadhouse Sun he goes for broke. Where Bingham's debut, Mescalito, featured a streamlined version of Texas country and rock, Roadhouse Sun is an eclectic affair, embracing jangly folk-pop ("Dylan's Hard Rain"), psychedelic boogie ("Change Is") and fist-pumping arena jams ("Endless Ways").
