Granted, Shakira was still just finding her feet when she recorded this album. But that's forgivable -- she was only 18 and coming off an acting career. You know how it is. Pies Descalzos ("naked feet") did a lot for her: launched several hits, showcased her supremely confident voice, and demonstrated that under the dance pop beats lay an artist with actual vision.
