Disquera: Esoteric Recordings
Tangerine Dream's fourth album, released in 1973, opens with a 20-minute percussive, rhythmic piece that, while bearing the marks of the ambient music the band had been known for, is far more aggressive at times than anything they had recorded previously. "Wahn" even has vocals, a major departure for them. Granted, those vocals are sublanguage yowls -- but they are, in fact, human. Following the release of Atem (which means "breath" in German), Tangerine Dream switched labels and started recording more commercially accessible music.
